Founded in 1973, AISB is an accredited, private, non-profit international school.  AISB is accredited by CIS and MSA, and is a member of CEESA, SCIS, IB, and ISTA.

AISB is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and offers the IB Diploma program in addition to our American High School Diploma and our Global Impact Diploma. Students can graduate with a combination of these Diplomas accredited by CIS and the Middle States Association. The high school program is based on an American educational model within an international context with a focus on critical thinking skills, creativity, and inquiry-based learning.  All courses focus on developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions, as well as a global perspective, to equip students to flourish in a rapidly changing workplace.  All students have access to a wide range of courses and pathways to cater to students’ different interests and needs. English is the language of instruction, except in World Language courses.

AISB occupies a single campus of 19 hectares on the western outskirts of Budapest. The Middle/High School building houses 51 classrooms, library, cafeteria, computer rooms, double-sized gymnasium, single-size gymnasium, 25-meter swimming pool, 350-seat theatre, and performing and visual arts facilities. The Elementary building has 27 classrooms, library, cafeteria, computer rooms, double-size gymnasium, and performing and visual arts facilities. In the grounds, there are two soccer fields, an athletics track with lights, 4 floodlit tennis courts and a basketball court.

The American International School of Budapest (AISB) seeks to appoint an MS/HS Design Teacher for 2027. August 1. start date.

Reports To: High School and Middle School Principals

The successful candidate will foster a culture of inquiry, problem-solving, and design thinking through hands-on coursework, STEAM integration, and maker space management across Grades 6–12.  Experience teaching design across a range of contexts (digital design, product design, media design) would be an advantage.  The role also involves serving as a grade-level advisor to a group of 10–12 students.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Design, Educational Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
    Valid teaching certification
  2. Minimum of three years of recent international experience teaching Middle or High School digital/product/media design, Design Technology / STEAM
  3. Demonstrated experience using the Design Cycle and managing maker space environments
  4. Demonstrated experience in advisory and community service programs.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  1. Master’s degree in Education or a technology-related field.
  2. Recent experience and an ability to teach both digital and product design
  3. Recent professional development in design thinking, inquiry-based learning, and engineering.
  4. Certification or experience supporting English Language Learners (ELL).
  5. Proficiency with educational technology, online grading, and curriculum management platforms (e.g., Veracross, Google Apps, Atlas Rubicon).
  6. Experience or training in harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) tools responsibly to optimize instructional design and support student learning.
