Lucy Berghuis
Elementary Multiage Teacher
Originally from the UK, Lucy’s work in Early Childhood education has been shaped by a deep curiosity about how young children learn, connect, and make meaning through their environments and relationships. After studying Teaching and Early Childhood Studies at Roehampton University in London, she helped develop an Early Years program and outdoor learning environment in Richmond, South West London.
Her international journey later took her to Singapore, where she became a founding educator at EtonHouse International Preschool and worked closely with the surrounding community. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and her studies in Italy, Lucy developed a strong passion for responsive learning environments and authentic documentation of children’s thinking and growth.
Most recently, Lucy lived in Jeju, South Korea, where alongside teaching Nursery, she worked as a Pedagogista supporting educators in building a respectful and child-centered Early Years program. Now at AISB, she continues to nurture spaces where curiosity, creativity, relationships, and meaningful learning can flourish.
Outside the classroom, Lucy loves spending time outdoors with her three young children and brings the same sense of observation, creativity, and wonder into her interests in photography and knitting.
